Mercruiser Distributor Sensor Failure

Replaced the distributor cap with a new mercruiser cap and had same issue again 2nd time out.

If 12 volts is present remove the coil spark wire from the distributor and connect it to a spark gap tester to ground. Remove the main coil lead from the center of the distributor cap and install the spark tester.

Make sure the other end of the tester is attached to a good clean ground. Remove the white green lead from the dist. Crank the engine and check for spark. I have a 3rd cap now with the same problems. Mercruiser volvo penta omc distributor kit. If there is spark replace the ignition sensor in the dist.

Key to on and strike the white green lead to ground. We are all experiencing similar problems.
